Its Q1 loss widened to $1.69 per share from $1.35 per share in the same quarter last year.&nbsp;&nbsp;While the U.S. airline industry sees no dearth in demand, Alaska Air, along with the rest of the commercial airline industry, has been reeling under the pressure of high fuel prices as the U.S.-Iran war sent crude prices skyrocketing.&nbsp;According to data from Airlines Reporting Corp (ARC),&nbsp;a U.S.-based travel agency, air ticket sales totaled $10.4 billion in March 2026 — a 12% increase from March 2025.<h2 class="st-heading-2">ALK Management Commentary&nbsp;</h2>The aircraft operator failed to provide a full-year revenue or profit guidance for 2026. “For full year 2026, our visibility to earnings is limited due primarily to ongoing fuel price volatility. Until conditions stabilize and we have better sight to earnings beyond the current quarter, we have suspended full-year guidance,” the company said in a statement.&nbsp;“April fuel is expected to be approximately $4.75 per gallon, and we expect the quarter to average approximately $4.50 based on the forward curve today. This assumption adds approximately $600 million of expense to the second quarter, equivalent to an earnings per share headwind of $3.60. ALK Stock Plunges After Hours on $600M Q2 Fuel-Cost Hammer

Alaska Air’s stock tumbles as the lack of 2026 earnings guidance and expectations of surging fuel costs raise concerns.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>The Trump Administration will initiate tariff refunds amounting to $166 billion following a US Supreme Court loss.&nbsp;</li><li>But, several US importers, including FedEx, CostCo, UPS and EssilorLuxottica are facing lawsuits as consumers challenge higher tariff costs passed on to the customer by these firms.&nbsp;</li><li>More than 330,000 importers had paid a combined $166 billion in tariffs across more than 53 million shipments.</li></ul>Shares of major U.S. importers came into sharp focus after the Trump administration began accepting refund claims for $166 billion in tariffs that were struck down by the Supreme Court in February.FedEx shares surged to record highs on Monday, while most other importers’ shares were in the red as many consumers filed lawsuits. As tariff pressure rose, most businesses either bore the cost, while some passed the added cost on to customers, spurring lawsuits.&nbsp;The US Supreme Court, in February 2026, held that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not authorize the President to impose tariffs absent clear congressional authorization.CostCo shares slipped&nbsp;only&nbsp;marginally despite&nbsp;the lawsuits. Serra Verde will also supply rare-earth minerals to a special-purpose vehicle backed by various U.S. government agencies to produce a permanent NdFeB magnet.“Together, we believe the combined company will deliver a fully integrated rare earth solution at scale, accelerate growth, and create enhanced value for all stakeholders—including shareholders, customers, employees, local communities, and governments spanning Brazil, the United States, and our Allies,” said Serra Verde chief executive officer, Thras Moraitis.The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter this year.
