Apple Inc. (AAPL) Chief Executive John Ternus is reportedly considering changes to the company’s management structure and product development process as part of an effort to make the company more engineering-focused, faster and leaner.

According to the Bloomberg report, one potential change would reduce layers of middle management. Ternus is considering reducing middle-management layers that separate engineers and senior leadership. The report did not specify how many roles could be affected or provide a timetable for potential changes.

Apple Product Launch Calendar, Costs Also In Focus

The report added that Ternus is also weighing changes to Apple’s traditional spring and fall product-launch cycles. The moves would mark some of the first significant organizational changes under Ternus, who officially succeeded Tim Cook as CEO on Sept. 1, 2026.

The reported restructuring is part of a wider cost-cutting push and an effort to identify additional revenue streams, including generating more revenue from existing products and offerings, according to the report.

Stocktwits has reached out to Apple for comment, but the company has not responded as of publication.

Ternus previously led Apple’s hardware engineering organization before taking the top job. Apple said in its April succession announcement that his tenure included work across the company’s hardware portfolio and manufacturing processes.

Tim Cook remains at Apple as executive chairman.

Retail Sentiment Around AAPL Stock

On Stocktwits, retail investor sentiment around AAPL stock remained in the ‘bearish’ territory even though Apple is the best-performing Mag 7 stock so far in 2026. 

So far this year, AAPL stock has rallied nearly 23%. In comparison, the Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF (MAGS) and the Vanguard Information Technology ETF (VGT), which hold AAPL stock, have risen around 10% and 37%, respectively, over the same period.
