It noted that the ETH/BTC ratio slid toward 0.0275 while funding rates softened and implied volatility rose, sending bearish market signal.The firm pegged the sharp reversal to hotter-than-expected U.S.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/cryptocurrency/bitcoin-defies-hot-april-cpi-report-holds-80-k-while-us-stocks-tumble/cZXXhFLReiL">inflation data</a>, which triggered a broad repricing across global markets. Core consumer prices, excluding food and energy, rose 0.4% in April from the previous month, above Wall Street expectations of 0.3%. On an annual basis, core CPI increased 2.8%, also slightly above estimates of 2.7%.Wintermute said markets are now pricing a 44% probability of a Federal Reserve rate hike by December, compared with roughly 22% a week earlier.“The conversation went from ‘when do they cut’ to ‘do they hike’ in five trading days,” the firm wrote.Institutional flows have also deteriorated. Spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $255 million in outflows last week. On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment around ETH remained in an ‘extremely bearish’ zone, while chatter stayed ‘normal’ over the past day.&nbsp;Broader geopolitical developments are also feeding into sentiment. Analyst Ted Pillows&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/TedPillows/status/2048325622783418414">noted</a> that “ETH is going sideways for now,” adding that “US-Iran peace talks have been canceled, which means next week will be very crucial.” He said a move above $2,400 could push Ethereum toward “$2,470 to $2,500 liquidity,” while a breakdown below $2,300 may lead to “a retest of $2,150 to $2,200 support level.”At the same time, technical patterns were contributing to the cautious outlook. CGT Trader, another crypto analyst,&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/CGT_Trader/status/2048318602428743883">said</a> that “price just printed a head and shoulders pattern on ETH with a descending neckline, a sign of particular weakness,” though he noted the setup was not yet confirmed. Unlike Bitmine, SharpLink Gaming has been more conservative about its Ethereum purchases. Bitmine announced on Monday that it has made its largest weekly purchase of the year, of over 71,000 Ethereum (ETH).&nbsp;Bitmine now holds 4,803,334 ETH, which accounts for about 3.98% of the altcoin’s total circulating supply. It has staked around 3,334,637 Ethereum, worth around $7.1 billion. Meanwhile, SBET has staked the entirety of its treasury to generate returns. The Nonprofit That Helps Run Ethereum Stakes A Record $46 Million Worth Of ETH

The Ethereum Foundation staked a record 22,517 ETH, worth about $46 million, marking its largest staking move since announcing its strategy pivot in late 2025.

However, ETHB recorded a net inflow of roughly $5.47 million, making it the only fund in the category to register positive flows during the session.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/ETHB/sentiment">ETHB</a> closed at $27.45 on Friday, down by 0.40%. The fund surpassed $261 million in assets under management in its first week. ETHB launched with $100 million in seed capital and has since seen inflows of around $160 million.&nbsp;Early traction has placed it among the fastest-growing Ethereum-based investment products. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/JSeyff/status/2032204440082460707">said</a> that the staked Ethereum had reached $15.5 million in trading volume on the day of its launch. Things may get less secure, but the overall network will keep running.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">The 5 North Stars For Ethereum</h2>The document’s inception was at an Ethereum Foundation workshop in January 2026, according to Drake. He said the name combines “strawmap” and “roadmap,” acknowledging that drafting a proposal to satisfy stakeholders in a decentralized ecosystem is “effectively impossible.”&nbsp;The strawmap is centered around five “north stars” as its technical objectives, according to Drake. The first of which is a "fast L1," which targets short slots and finality in seconds. The second is "gigagas L1," which aims to reach a transaction speed of 1 gigagas per second via zkEVMs and real-time proving.&nbsp;The third target is "teragas L2," looking to hit 1 gigabyte per second of data bandwidth, or 10 million transactions per second. BlackRock’s&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/IBIT">iShares Bitcoin ETF</a> (IBIT) led the gains, accounting for around $300 million of the total, followed by the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GBTC">Grayscale Bitcoin Trust</a> (GBTC) at around $100 million.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around IBIT remained in ‘bullish’ territory over the past day, while retail sentiment around GBTC continued to trend in the ‘bullish’ zone.
