Spot Bitcoin ETFs&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/cryptocurrency/bitcoin-et-fs-record-highest-inflows-since-october-crash-retail-doubts-the-rally/cmU1hgAR47Z">recorded</a> their highest inflows since the October 10 market crash.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around BTC remained in ‘bullish’ territory over the past day as chatter rose to ‘high’ from ‘normal’ levels. Despite the uptick, Bitcoin’s price remains over 20% below its record high of $126,000 seen last year.&nbsp;Market watchers are keeping an eye on developments between the U.S. and Iran, as well as developments on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell being subpoenaed by the Trump administration. After the crypto market’s price movement&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/BullTheoryio/status/2011483902263902363">decoupled</a> from the stock market this past week, some are hoping its status as a digital safe haven asset may return.&nbsp;<stembedurl>https://www.stocktwits.com/ChuckRoades/message/641876061</stembedurl><h2 class="st-heading-2">Will Bitcoin Hit Higher Highs?</h2>According to on-chain analytics firm Glassnode, Bitcoin is now trading in a price area where a lot of long-term investors previously bought and later sold. It&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://insights.glassnode.com/the-week-onchain-week-02-2026/">noted</a> that this zone, roughly between $93,000 and $110,000, has acted like a ceiling in recent months.It said that every time Bitcoin has moved into this range, selling pressure has increased, stopping the rally – a trend that has been on a loop since November. Until that happens, the zone between $93,000 and $110,000 remains a key resistance level for Bitcoin to beat.Analyst Caleb Franzen&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/CalebFranzen/status/2011473094771138959">said</a> Bitcoin’s price movement over the last two days looks very similar to a setup seen in April 2025. Bitcoin Is Closing In On $98,000 – And Analysts Are Watching This Resistance Level For Its Next Rally

Bitcoin’s price rose nearly 2% over the past 24 hours, trading around $96,800 after briefly pushing toward the $98,000 level.

Retail sentiment around the token, however, dipped to ‘extremely bearish’ from ‘bearish’ over the past day amid ‘low’ levels of chatter.Standard Chartered now expects Ethereum’s price to hit $7,500 by year end, down from its initial forecast of $12,000. The target still predicts a potential upside of over 140%. “We lower our year-end ETH-USD forecasts for 2026 to 2028 to reflect broader weakness in digital assets,” the bank said. “However, we raise our longer-term ETH-USD forecasts.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">Ethereum’s Price To Hit $40,000 By 2030</h2>Under the revised projections, Standard Chartered now sees Ethereum at $15,000 in 2027, down from $18,000 and $22,000 in 2028, down from and $25,000. The bank maintained its 2029 target at $30,000 and expects ETH to reach $40,000 by the end of 2030.Bitcoin’s price forecasts were unchanged, with the bank projecting BTC at $150,000 in 2026, rising to $500,000 by 2030.<h2 class="st-heading-2">CLARITY Act Could Unlock Next Phase for DeFi</h2>The bank predicted that the potential passage of the CLARITY Act, which would establish a regulatory framework for digital assets, could be particularly supportive for Ethereum if it enables further development of decentralised finance.Standard Chartered expects the legislation, which has been delayed to the last week of January, combined with the resilience of U.S. equity markets, to push Bitcoin to a new all-time high in the first half of the year. The House passed its version of the CLARITY Act in mid-2025, but the Senate must approve its own version before the bill can move forward.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Why Ethereum’s Long-Term Case Has Strengthened</h2>Despite trimming near-term estimates, Standard Chartered said the driver behind Ethereum has improved this year. “I think 2026 will be the year of Ethereum,” Geoffrey said over email, pointing to several factors supporting that view.The firm noted that inflows into ETFs and digital-asset treasury companies (DATs) have slowed across the sector, but continued accumulation by Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) has provided ETH with a relative advantage. The Tom Leed-backed firm is the largest Ethereum-focused corporate treasury.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/BMNR">BMNR’s stock</a> edged 0.79% lower in pre-market trade after notching a gain of 3.56% in regular trading. Retail sentiment around the stock remained in ‘bearish’ territory over the past day.&nbsp;The bank also remains bullish on stablecoins, real-world assets (RWAs), and decentralised finance (DeFi), areas where Ethereum maintains a dominant share of activity.&nbsp;It added that Ethereum’s plan to increase transactions on its layer 1 network by tenfold is showing progress, according to the bank’s analysis. Ethereum Seen At $40,000 By 2030, Bitcoin To Hit New High In 2026: Standard Chartered

Standard Chartered’s Geoffery Kendrick said 2026 is slated to be “the year of Ethereum” even as the firm lowered its price targets on the leading altcoin.

On Ethereum, gas fees have fallen into the fourth percentile historically, meaning they are lower than roughly 96% of past observations.In simple terms, fewer traders are active, fewer transactions are happening, and there is less capital moving through the system. That makes prices more sensitive, because it takes less buying or selling to push the market in either direction.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Derivatives Suggest Leverage Is Building Quietly</h2>Despite the lack of spot participation, leverage has not disappeared, 10x Research noted. It said that funding rates have drifted higher even as futures open interest has declined, suggesting risk is becoming concentrated among fewer traders.&nbsp;Bitcoin funding rates sit near the middle of their 12-month range, while Ethereum futures positioning remains elevated compared with recent price performance. According to 10x Research, this combination points to a thinner and less stable market structure.It added that implied volatility for both Bitcoin and Ethereum has dropped sharply into year-end, especially for near-term contracts. That suggests traders are selling volatility and reducing demand for short-term protection.The firm noted that, historically, similar periods of compressed volatility have often come just before markets break out of long periods of consolidation rather than continue drifting sideways.With year-end liquidity constraints set to ease and major macro events approaching in January, 10x Research warned that the current calm may not last.
