He said the name combines “strawmap” and “roadmap,” acknowledging that drafting a proposal to satisfy stakeholders in a decentralized ecosystem is “effectively impossible.”&nbsp;The strawmap is centered around five “north stars” as its technical objectives, according to Drake. The first of which is a "fast L1," which targets short slots and finality in seconds. The second is "gigagas L1," which aims to reach a transaction speed of 1 gigagas per second via zkEVMs and real-time proving.&nbsp;The third target is "teragas L2," looking to hit 1 gigabyte per second of data bandwidth, or 10 million transactions per second. BlackRock’s&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/IBIT">iShares Bitcoin ETF</a> (IBIT) led the gains, accounting for around $300 million of the total, followed by the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GBTC">Grayscale Bitcoin Trust</a> (GBTC) at around $100 million.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around IBIT remained in ‘bullish’ territory over the past day, while retail sentiment around GBTC continued to trend in the ‘bullish’ zone. Both funds were down over 1% each in after-hours trade as Bitcoin pared its gains.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/bitcoin">Bitcoin’s price</a> was trading at around $68,000 on Thursday morning, down after crossing the $69,000 on Wednesday, but still up 4.1% in the last 24 hours. Retail sentiment around ETHE, however, improved to ‘bullish’ from ‘neutral’ territory over the past day but saw ‘low’ levels of chatter.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/ethereum">Ethereum’s price</a> climbed as high as $2,100, paring gains and holding ground above $2,000, still up by 7.7% in the last 24 hours and outperforming Bitcoin. Bitcoin ETF Inflows Top $500M For First Time This Year, On Track To Break Record Outflow Streak

Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs are on track for their first week of net inflows after five straight weeks of outflows – the longest on record.

The company was among many pivoting toward a crypto-led balance sheet, hoping to replicate the success of Strategy (MSTR) and its Bitcoin (BTC) playbook.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Crypto Rout Forces Ethereum Liquidations</h2>ETHZilla held over 100,000 Ethereum at its peak, according to&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://defillama.com/digital-asset-treasury/ethz">data</a> from DefiLlama. However, once the crypto market started to fall after October’s peak, the company was among the first few that were forced to sell.&nbsp;ETHZ sold around $40 million of Ethereum in October to fund stock repurchases. It then sold another $74.5 million worth of ETH tokens in December to repay senior secured convertible notes.The company has around 65,786 ETH left on its balance sheet, valued at around $138.82 million. He added that ETH briefly fell into the serious “undervaluation” zone earlier this year during a bull market — something that has never happened before. However, the altcoin has never reached extreme overvaluation levels, which suggests it’s not overheated, Mesel said.According to him, the crypto market is in the middle of an altcoin season, but it’s weaker than the last time around. He speculated that this could be due to their overperformance in the previous cycle, or perhaps retail investors are sitting this one out. Bitcoin Is Closing In On $98,000 – And Analysts Are Watching This Resistance Level For Its Next Rally

Retail sentiment around the token, however, dipped to ‘extremely bearish’ from ‘bearish’ over the past day amid ‘low’ levels of chatter.Standard Chartered now expects Ethereum’s price to hit $7,500 by year end, down from its initial forecast of $12,000. The target still predicts a potential upside of over 140%. “We lower our year-end ETH-USD forecasts for 2026 to 2028 to reflect broader weakness in digital assets,” the bank said. “However, we raise our longer-term ETH-USD forecasts.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">Ethereum’s Price To Hit $40,000 By 2030</h2>Under the revised projections, Standard Chartered now sees Ethereum at $15,000 in 2027, down from $18,000 and $22,000 in 2028, down from and $25,000. The bank maintained its 2029 target at $30,000 and expects ETH to reach $40,000 by the end of 2030.Bitcoin’s price forecasts were unchanged, with the bank projecting BTC at $150,000 in 2026, rising to $500,000 by 2030.<h2 class="st-heading-2">CLARITY Act Could Unlock Next Phase for DeFi</h2>The bank predicted that the potential passage of the CLARITY Act, which would establish a regulatory framework for digital assets, could be particularly supportive for Ethereum if it enables further development of decentralised finance.Standard Chartered expects the legislation, which has been delayed to the last week of January, combined with the resilience of U.S. equity markets, to push Bitcoin to a new all-time high in the first half of the year. The House passed its version of the CLARITY Act in mid-2025, but the Senate must approve its own version before the bill can move forward.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Why Ethereum’s Long-Term Case Has Strengthened</h2>Despite trimming near-term estimates, Standard Chartered said the driver behind Ethereum has improved this year. “I think 2026 will be the year of Ethereum,” Geoffrey said over email, pointing to several factors supporting that view.The firm noted that inflows into ETFs and digital-asset treasury companies (DATs) have slowed across the sector, but continued accumulation by Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) has provided ETH with a relative advantage. The Tom Leed-backed firm is the largest Ethereum-focused corporate treasury.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/BMNR">BMNR’s stock</a> edged 0.79% lower in pre-market trade after notching a gain of 3.56% in regular trading. Retail sentiment around the stock remained in ‘bearish’ territory over the past day.&nbsp;The bank also remains bullish on stablecoins, real-world assets (RWAs), and decentralised finance (DeFi), areas where Ethereum maintains a dominant share of activity.&nbsp;It added that Ethereum’s plan to increase transactions on its layer 1 network by tenfold is showing progress, according to the bank’s analysis.
