Citi Upgrades Brinker To Buy, Sees 25% Upside

Analyst Jon Tower highlighted that the easing of Brazil's food tariffs could reduce cost pressures.

Carter's Inc (CRI) shares declined over 11% on Friday after the&nbsp;kids'&nbsp;apparel retailer posted lower quarterly revenue and profit and suspended its 2025 business forecast.The company said its move is influenced by the recent leadership transition and "significant uncertainty surrounding proposed new tariffs and potential related impact on the business."Carter's appointed Douglas Palladini, a former senior executive for VF Corp's (VFC) Vans brand, as CEO on April 3.For the fiscal first quarter ending&nbsp;March 29, Carter's said revenue declined to $629.8 million from $661.5 million a year earlier. However, it exceeded the $623.8 million analyst estimate from FactSet.Adjusted earnings were $0.66 per share, down from $1.04 a year earlier, but exceeded the estimate of $0.53.The company's annual revenue has declined over the last three years, weighed down by persistent inflation and elevated interest rates, which, among other things, have reduced consumer spending among families with young children.Carter's is one of North America's largest clothing brands for babies and young children. Carter's Stock Dives On Guidance Suspension, Poor Q1 Print — Retail Traders Watch Cautiously

Retail investors are waiting for the new chief executive's moves following his appointment earlier this month to revive the struggling business.

Shares of footwear and apparel retailer Foot Locker Inc. ($FL) fell more than 11% on Wednesday morning after the company missed Wall Street expectations for its third-quarter earnings, damping retail sentiment.The company posted earnings per share of $0.33, below $0.40 as Wall Street analysts expected. Its revenues came in at $1.96 billion, versus the expected $2.01 billion, according to Stocktwits data.Softer consumer spending following the back-to-school season was responsible for the weaker-than-expected bottom line, the company said in a statement.Foot Locker also lowered its full-year sales guidance for non-GAAP EPS outlook. It now expects a sales decline between -1.5% and -1.0%, compared to the earlier range of -1% to +1%.Its non-GAAP EPS is projected at $1.20 to $1.30 compared to the earlier stated range of $1.50 and $1.70. Fourth quarter EPS is expected to fall between $0.70 to $0.80, the company added.For the third quarter, comparable sales grew 2.4% including global Foot Locker and Kids Foot Locker divisions where comparable sales grew by 2.8%. &nbsp;"Our team's continued focus on execution drove positive comparable sales trends and meaningful gross margin expansion in the quarter. &nbsp;However, our third quarter top- and bottom-line performance fell short of our expectations,” Mary Dillon, president and CEO said in a statement.Retail sentiment on the stock fell to ‘extremely bearish’ (24/100) from ‘neutral’ (51/100) a week ago. Foot Locker Stock Slides on Weak Q3 Results: Retail Sees Weak Demand as Key Issue

($FL) were down 3.8% on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the company’s third-quarter earnings release, dampening retail sentiment.Wall Street analysts are expecting earnings per share of $0.40 on estimated revenues of $2.01 billion, according to Stocktwits data.For the second quarter, its total sales increased by 1.9%, to $1,89 billion. EPS came in at -$0.05, beating estimates of -$0.07.Its comparable sales increased by 2.6%, led by the global Foot Locker and Kids Foot Locker comparable sales growth of 5.2%. The company reaffirmed its full-year guidance for non-GAAP EPS to fall between $1.50 and $1.70.On Tuesday, Piper Sandler lowered the price target on <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/FL">Foot Locker stock</a> to $28 from $30, while keeping a ‘Neutral’ rating, The Fly.com reported.
