Oil prices gained in Asia hours on Monday as the OPEC+ chose to boost October production at a slower pace than in previous months.Benchmark Brent crude prices rose 1.1% to $66.20 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate prices gained 1.1% to $62.56 per barrel at 1.39 a.m. GMT (9.39 p.m. GMT). Retail sentiment on Stocktwits about the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/USO">United States Oil Fund</a> (USO) was in the ‘bearish’ territory at the time of writing.Both contracts slipped over 3% last week, as demand concerns grew following a buildup of crude inventories in the U.S., while jobs data showed that the U.S. unemployment rate jumped to a 4-year high.On Sunday, OPEC+, led by Saudi Arabia, agreed to raise output by 137,000 barrels per day, much lower than the over 550,000 bpd of production hike in August and September. Riyadh aims to regain market share lost during the pandemic, while also providing opportunities for overproducing members to compensate. The oil-producing group has already brought back about 2.2 million barrels per day (bpd) in curtailed production this year."The oil market rebounded slightly, supported by relief over OPEC+'s modest output hike and a technical bounce following last week's decline," said Toshitaka Tazawa, an analyst at Fujitomi Securities, according to a Reuters News report.He added that the potential U.S. sanctions on Russia might also be lending support to oil prices amid concerns about oversupply. Oil Prices Rise After Modest October Production Hike From OPEC+

Retail sentiment on Stocktwits about the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/USO">United States Oil Fund</a> (USO) was in the ‘bearish’ territory at the time of writing.Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter, that OPEC+ will discuss a further rise in October production in a meeting scheduled for Sept. 7. However, the report also stated the producer group could keep its production flat as well.OPEC+, led by the world’s top oil exporter, Saudi Arabia, has already brought back 2.2 million barrels per day of curtailed production capacity since April, alongside another 300,000 bpd of output rise in the UAE.The production growth is expected to outstrip the rise in demand. According to the International Energy Agency’s August estimates, global crude demand will only rise by 700,000 bpd, compared with a 1.9 million bpd jump in supplies.“So far, OPEC has managed to raise output without undermining prices while also squeezing high-cost producers, most notably in the U.S., where production is nearing a peak. That removes the single largest source of non-OPEC supply growth of the past decade,” noted Ole Hansen, head commodity strategist at Saxo Bank.Separately, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that U.S. crude stockpiles rose by 2.4 million barrels per day, which was higher than the estimated increase, according to a Reuters report.However, geopolitical tensions have continued to support oil prices. Oil Prices Slip As Summer Demand Nears An End Amid Resumption Of Russian Pipeline

Benchmark Brent crude prices fell 53 cents to $67.52 per barrel at 5.04 a.m. ET, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude prices fell 0.8% to $63.65 per barrel.

Goldman Sachs analysts have projected that Brent crude oil prices could slump to the low $50s due to a significant increase in global oil supplies."We expect the oil surplus to widen and average 1.8 million barrels per day in 2025 Q4 (through) 2026 Q4, resulting in a nearly 800 million barrel rise in global stocks by end-2026," the bank’s analysts said in a statement, according to a Reuters News <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/goldman-sachs-expects-brent-decline-low-50s-by-late-2026-2025-08-27/">report</a>.The investment bank believes that stockpiles in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries will comprise a third of the total global stock, or 270 million barrels, by 2026. Goldman Sachs Sees Brent Oil Prices Falling To Low-$50s On Rising Inventories

 If Brent prices hover around $50, many oil producers might struggle to provide the attractive capital returns that have pulled some investors back to the sector.

Oil prices slipped on Tuesday after a strong start to the week that came on the back of supply fears triggered by an escalation of attacks on energy infrastructure in Russia.Benchmark Brent crude prices slipped 0.7% to $68.33 per barrel at 3.22 a.m. ET, while the U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude prices fell 0.8% to $64.26 per barrel. Both contracts had notched 2% gains in the earlier session.Retail sentiment on Stocktwits about the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/USO">United States Oil Fund</a> (USO) was in the ‘bearish’ territory at the time of writing. At the same time, traders were ‘neutral’ about <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/UCO">ProShares Ultra Bloomberg Crude Oil</a> (UCO).Both benchmark crude prices had already advanced last week on a larger-than-expected decline in U.S. oil inventories, and a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump did not yield any significant results.In August, Ukraine stepped up its drone attacks on Russian oil infrastructure. It struck the Novokuibyshevsk, Syzran, Ryazan, and Volgograd refineries, leading to shortages even in the sparsely populated eastern regions of the country.“With the past week’s turn back to the upside, nearby Brent crude oil futures haveadded to the impression of interim support at the $65.00 mark,” energy analyst Tim Evans noted.Separately, a Homeland Security notification confirmed the U.S. will impose an additional 25% tariff on all Indian exports from Wednesday due to its purchases of Russian oil. The fresh duties put the total levy on Indian-origin goods to 50%, one of the highest among Washington’s key trading partners.According to a Reuters News report, traders are eagerly awaiting U.S. inventory data from the American Petroleum Institute (API) to be released later in the day.
