Trump On US-Israel-Iran War: United States Continues Iran Mission With 'Ferocious Unyielding Resolve'

The President added that while the U.S. has projected a timeline of four to five weeks for the Iran mission, the country has the capability to extend it far longer.

This comes at a time when crude oil prices are soaring, with the U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures maturing in April up nearly 6.8% to $71.57 per barrel. Brent crude futures maturing in May gained 8% to $78.7 per barrel.Analysts at ING Think stated in a note on Sunday that if the U.S.-Israel-Iran war leads to significant and extended oil supply disruptions, it could push crude oil prices to $100 per barrel and even $140 per barrel, in the worst-case scenario.<h2 class="st-heading-2">UBS Expects Oil Price Rise To Reverse At Least Partially</h2>Analysts at UBS stated in a note on Monday that they expect the rise in crude oil prices to reverse at least partially in their base case scenario. They said this would likely occur once it becomes clear that supply disruptions caused by the Iran conflict are temporary, critical oil infrastructure remains intact, and the need for continued military action fades.“In this scenario, markets may be volatile over the coming weeks but would likely thereafter start to refocus on positive global economic fundamentals. Brent crude futures maturing in May gained 8% to $78.7 per barrel.Analysts at ING Think pointed out that while the U.S. has limited trade exposure to the Strait of Hormuz, its closure would fuel an increase in global oil prices, exacerbating the current cost-of-living crisis.“U.S. consumers are already stretched, and gasoline prices are acutely politically sensitive going into midterm territory. Higher oil prices would also complicate the Federal Reserve's future monetary policy path,” the firm stated in its latest note.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Trending Stocks To Watch</h2>Lockheed Martin (LMT), RTX (RTX), Northrop Grumman (NOC): Defense stocks soared in Monday’s pre-market trade, gaining between 6% and 8% amid the rising tensions in the Middle East.Exxon Mobil (XOM), Battalion Oil (BATL), Chevron (CVX): Exxon Mobil and Chevron stocks rose about 5% in Monday’s pre-market session amid a boil in oil prices during the Iran conflict. Battalion Oil shares soared about 85%, continuing to trend upward and building on the 33% gains the stock registered on Friday. Crude oil ETFs also saw an uptick.Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A, BRK-B): Berkshire Hathaway’s shares were down about 2% pre-market on Monday after the company’s fourth-quarter (Q4) results missed Wall Street expectations. Berkshire reported earnings per share (EPS) of $4.73 on Saturday, missing an expected EPS of $5.51, according to Fiscal.ai data. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Oil prices saw the biggest price surge in four years after the three oil tankers were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz amid the U.S.-Israel war with Iran.</li><li>An uptick in oil prices&nbsp; spike threatens crypto by signaling higher inflation and lowering the odds of a March interest rate cut.</li><li>The cryptocurrency market fell in line with the equities market also trading lower after hours with the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF down 0.68%.</li></ul>Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and other crypto majors posted to large losses in the last 24 hours after U.S. President Donald Trump said the joint U.S.-Israel military strikes on Iran would continue until “all objectives” were met.&nbsp;The overall crypto market tumbled 1.8% in the last 24 hours to around $2.36 trillion. USO has risen 18% year-to-date, and XLE has climbed 25%, both outperforming the S&amp;P 500’s roughly 0.5% gain and the Nasdaq’s 10% decline.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Upstream Exposure In Focus</h2>Indonesia Energy has been advancing drilling preparations for two new wells at its Kruh Block in Sumatra, with operations expected to begin before the end of the first quarter of 2026.Meanwhile, Battalion Oil recently expanded gas processing capacity through a new midstream agreement, allowing all of its production substantially from the Monument Draw field to flow through an alternate facility, boosting oil output by roughly 1,200 net barrels per day month-to-date in January.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Iran Leadership Shock Adds Uncertainty</h2>Patrick De Haan, an analyst at GasBuddy, said the confirmed death of Khamenei introduces uncertainty into Iran’s decision-making structure but does not automatically imply lost supply. “A leadership vacuum could make a coordinated, broad-based response harder to execute — and that could soften oil price pressure now that the fact pattern is clearer,” he said.While Iran has vowed retaliation, tanker-tracking data show the Strait of Hormuz remains open, with continued bi-directional traffic. However, the key development has been commercial hesitation, De Haan said.&nbsp;Marine war-risk insurance premiums have jumped from roughly 0.2%-0.3% of vessel value to around 0.5% or higher, in some cases rising 40%-60% within days and adding up to $500,000 per voyage, De Haan said, adding that these logistics costs can lift oil prices even without physical supply disruption.He compared the situation to earlier Red Sea shipping disruptions that raised freight costs despite continued flows. He said that a closed Hormuz would signal a supply shock, but a high-risk Hormuz reflects rising transaction costs and volatility.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Oil Markets Pricing Friction</h2>Citigroup raised its short-term Brent forecast by $15 to $85 a barrel and expects prices to trade between $80 and $90 this week amid disrupted flows, according to a Bloomberg&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-03-02/oil-prices-could-rise-further-on-hormuz-delays-analysts-say">report</a>.&nbsp;Rystad Energy said oil could reach $100 if disruptions last weeks or months, while Goldman Sachs estimated that markets are already pricing an $18-per-barrel risk premium tied to tanker disruption scenarios. JPMorgan said the current slowdown appears “largely precautionary,” driven largely by insurer behavior rather than confirmed infrastructure damage.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Crude Supply Reality Still Matters</h2>De Haan noted that Iran’s exports are largely tied to China rather than directly influencing U.S. gasoline markets. OPEC+ over the weekend announced a 206,000-barrels-per-day production increase beginning in April. “Producers are clearly thinking in terms of stabilizing price expectations, not stoking fear-driven spikes,” he said.Even so, the additional supply would still need to transit Hormuz. De Haan also said Venezuela’s production, below 1 million barrels per day, cannot offset short-term Middle East risk.De Haan expects U.S. gasoline prices to move back above $3 per gallon and potentially toward $3.10 to $3.25 in&nbsp;the coming weeks, driven by risk premiums and seasonal factors.
