Yet, the metal’s year-end rally has not yet pushed into excessive optimism, the strategist added.Bauer believes that this is an aging silver bull market, based on return and duration measures. He added that the positioning and sentiment below prior extremes indicate that a minor correction may position the metal for additional upside.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Rising Demand</h2>Silver’s 2025 rally comes as demand for the metal has increased amid rising industrial use. Silver has nearly doubled in value this year, outpacing gold’s almost 60% gains.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Greenback And Copper Watch</h2>The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) was down marginally at 99.05. Gold prices advanced on Tuesday morning ahead of the Fed's rate decision on Wednesday, amidst a widely anticipated 25-basis-point rate cut.

A week back, the figure stood slightly lower at 86.4%.Last month, Deutsche Bank raised its 2026 gold forecast, expecting prices to reach $4,450 per ounce, up from its previous estimate of $4,000 per ounce. Silver Extends Blistering Rally With Yet Another Record High

On Friday, spot silver climbed past $55 an ounce for the first time, buoyed by a weak dollar as traders bet on a potential interest rate cut on December 10. The rally continued on Monday with silver climbing above $58 per ounce.

The XAG/USD pair rose to an all-time high of $58.95 an ounce on Wednesday before paring some of the gains.

Investors remain bullish about gold’s ongoing rally.&nbsp;A recent Goldman Sachs survey, which polled 900 institutional clients, found that 36% expect gold to exceed $5,000 per ounce by the end of 2026, while another 33% see prices between $4,500 and $5,000. The recent surge has been fueled by deepening supply stress, highlighted at a major industry conference in Shanghai after a year of unexpected mine disruptions.&nbsp;Smelters are engaged in complex negotiations with miners over scarce ore, premiums have jumped, and trader Mercuria Energy Group has reportedly warned of potential shortages in 2025.While prices eased slightly on Tuesday, copper remains up 28% on the LME this year. The market is also being shaped by U.S. reserves, which remain elevated, with domestic prices at a premium amid potential tariff risks.Looking ahead, JPMorgan expects the rally to persist, forecasting copper to reach $12,500 a ton by the second quarter of 2026.“The continued surge in demand for compute remains extremely topical for copper markets, even if overall demand from the sector is growing from a small base. This has led to a sharp decline in “free-float” inventory, in which the metal is not tied to exchange-traded funds (ETFs), leases, or industrial contracts. As availability decreased, the cost of borrowing, known as the lease rate, jumped sharply, putting pressure on traders.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Gold And The Greenback</h2>Spot gold was up 0.5% at $4,237.5 per ounce on Monday, while gold futures for February 2026 delivery rose around 0.4%. The metal is trading well above its 50-DMA.On the other hand, the dollar slid yet again, with the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) falling back to its 50-DMA for the first time since October 17.&nbsp;It has declined in five of the last six sessions. Kotak Mutual Fund has temporarily halted fresh lump-sum and switch-in investments in its Kotak Silver ETF Fund of Fund (FoF), effective Friday. This decision comes in response to a significant surge in the domestic silver premium, which has risen from approximately 0.5% in early September to 5.7% as of October 9.Kotak said that investments are halted as the current premium makes new purchases less efficient. The fund clarified that Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) and redemptions will continue without interruption.The underlying Kotak Silver ETF, being a listed fund, remains open for trading and is not subject to suspension. Kotak MF said fresh subscriptions to the fund of funds will resume once the spot premium stabilizes and aligns with the import parity price.
