Gold and silver prices in India surged sharply on the first day of September, extending the strong momentum seen through August. Silver prices scaled fresh peaks, rising by ₹1,000 to ₹1,26,000 per kilogram, with 100 grams retailing at ₹12,600.Gold rates climbed by more than ₹30,000 per 100 grams in the last 10 days of August, marking one of the steepest rallies in recent months. Silver, too, reached new highs as demand picked up alongside global price gains.Shares of silver miner <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/HINDZINC.NSE">Hindustan Zinc</a> were up 3.6% to ₹434.65 in afternoon trade on Monday. &nbsp;The upcoming festive season, with Dussehra and Diwali, is expected to drive consumer demand further and keep prices buoyant.On September 1, the price of 24-carat gold jumped by ₹930 to ₹105,880 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold rose by ₹850 to ₹97,050 per 10 grams. 18-carat gold increased by ₹700 to ₹79,410 per 10 grams. For 100 grams, 24-carat gold now costs ₹1,058,800, while 22-carat gold is priced at ₹970,500.Futures trading reflected similar strength. At the Multi-Commodity Exchange, gold futures maturing on October 3 traded at ₹104,785 per 10 grams. Silver futures, set to mature on September 5, reached a record ₹122,679, up 1.09%.Globally, spot gold gained 0.83% to $3,473.2 per ounce, its highest since April. Spot silver rose 2.07% to $40.43 per ounce, the strongest level since 2011. Gold, Silver Prices Surge In India: Silver Hits ₹1.26 Lakh, Gold Nears ₹1.06 Lakh

Silver prices continued to retreat on Friday, falling more than 1% in morning trade, pressured by a firm U.S. dollar. Silver was currently trading at $35.91, 3.7% below its 13-year high of $37.31, seen earlier this month.&nbsp;Although the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DXY">U.S. Dollar Index (DXY)</a> was flat early Friday, it is up nearly 0.5% for the week. Silver is down 1.1% over the same period. The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SLV">iShares Silver Trust (SLV)</a> was down 1.3% Friday morning, and&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AGQ">ProShares UltraShort Silver (AGQ)</a> dipped 2.8%.&nbsp;The recent rally in&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/XAGUSD">silver prices</a> to a&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/silver-prices-hit-13-year-high-but-still-trail-gold-s-2025-rally/chkDpl4RbxI">13-year high</a> was driven by both geopolitical tensions, including the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel in the Middle East, and resilient demand from industrial sectors.Unlike gold, which is primarily used as a store of value, most of the grey metal’s demand comes from manufacturers.&nbsp;Industrial demand, especially from electronics, cutlery, and solar panel production, has remained steady, said Michael Widmer, Bank of America’s head of metals research, as&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.wsj.com/finance/commodities-futures/silver-prices-surge-8afe2e4b">told</a> to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).The iShares Silver Trust, a popular ETF among retail investors that holds physical silver, has added nearly 11 million ounces to its reserves this year to meet rising demand, according to fund documents cited by the publication.&nbsp;However, JPMorgan’s head of metals research, Greg Shearer, warned that demand from solar manufacturers, particularly in China, may have been pulled forward due to anticipated trade restrictions and shifting U.S. energy policy under President Donald Trump. Silver Prices Slip Over 3% From Recent 13-Year High, But Analysts Say Solar And Industrial Demand Still Support Bull Case

JPMorgan’s Greg Shearer told The Wall Street Journal that solar-related silver demand may slow later this year after being pulled forward ahead of expected trade and energy policy changes in the U.S.

Silver prices have retreated after testing a critical resistance zone near $38, validating a&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/silver-hits-resistance-zone-pullback-expected/chl7OsYRbzb">June 9 warning</a> by SEBI-registered analyst&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/Rajneesh_Sharma_Official">Rajneesh Sharma</a>, who had flagged the $37.5–$38 area as a key exhaustion level.<stembedurl>https://stocktwits.com/Rajneesh_Sharma_Official/message/618421675</stembedurl>At the time of writing,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/XAGUSD">spot silver (XAGUSD)</a> was trading at $35.62, down 2.12% on the day, while the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SILVERBEES.NSE">Nippon India Silver ETF</a> was quoted at ₹102.11, down 1.94% as of 11:56 am IST on June 20.The exhaustion level aligned with both horizontal supply and the upper boundary of silver’s ascending channel, according to the analyst.In a follow-up published Friday, Sharma said silver was rejected “cleanly” at resistance, slipping to around $35.70 — down about 4.5% from recent highs.&nbsp;He cited weak volume above $37.5 as confirmation that the supply zone remains intact.Sharma said that as long as silver holds above $38 on a weekly basis, it remains at risk for more downside.&nbsp;He now expects consolidation or a deeper correction, with support at $34.15 and $31.60.The analyst had previously cautioned against chasing long trades into this zone, calling it a “low-reward, high-risk” area. Silver Falls After $38 Rejection: SEBI RA Rajneesh Sharma Warned Of Pullback Risk

Silver prices declined on Friday amid weak momentum and technical resistance near recent highs. 

Silver (<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/XAGUSD">XAGUSD</a>) is quickly approaching a major technical barrier between $37.5 and $38 per ounce, a zone that has historically capped previous rallies and triggered sharp corrections, according to SEBI-registered analyst<a href="https://stocktwits.com/Rajneesh_Sharma_Official">&nbsp;Rajneesh Sharma</a>.<stembedurl>http://stocktwits.com/Rajneesh_Sharma_Official/message/617261271</stembedurl>The level also aligns with the upper edge&nbsp;of&nbsp;its ascending channel, marking a crucial inflection point for the metal.Sharma noted that although silver’s rally from around $28.6 has been strong, it is now approaching a key resistance zone marked by exhaustion points.Unless silver closes the week above $38, this resistance zone is likely to hold, potentially leading to a pullback or period of consolidation, according to the analyst. Historically, silver has seen sharp drops from this zone, with pullbacks ranging between 10% and 15%.Sharma believes entering long positions at this level offers poor risk/reward, as upside appears limited while downside risk is high.Closing above $38 would confirm a breakout, opening the door for a move toward $40 and beyond. Silver Nears Key Resistance Zone; SEBI RA Rajneesh Sharma Cautions Pullback Risk

The price of silver (XAG/USD) rallied more than 3.5% on Thursday to hit a 13-year high as the commodity’s safe-haven status and projections of a demand-supply mismatch appear to have spurred buying.&nbsp;Silver futures traded at $36.27 per ounce in morning trade, reaching levels not seen since March 2012, according to TradingView.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SLV">iShares Silver Trust</a> (SLV), the largest silver-backed exchange-traded fund, traded 3.7% higher in midday trade.The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/XAGUSD">price of silver</a> has appreciated by more than 20% this year. However, it still lags behind the surge in&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/XAUUSD">gold prices</a> (XAU/USD), which have seen an uptick of more than 28%.&nbsp;Gold futures edged 0.14% lower in morning trade on Thursday.According to analysts, the prices for both precious metals are being driven by safe-haven buying. Renewed geopolitical and economic tensions, like the Trump administration’s policies and the Russia-Ukraine war, have fueled their rally.“After lagging behind gold for several weeks, silver is now catching up,” Alexander Zumpfe, senior trader at German gold refiner Heraeus Group,&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-06-04/gold-holds-gain-as-soft-us-data-bolster-bets-on-fed-rate-cuts">told</a> Bloomberg.&nbsp;That suggests “renewed interest from momentum-driven investors who are rotating into silver,” he added.Silver also drew support from strong inflows into silver-backed exchange-traded funds, which added 2.2 million ounces on Wednesday, according to data cited by Bloomberg.A recent survey by the Silver Institute estimated that the supply of silver was approximately 15% lower than demand in 2024 and projected another deficit for 2025.It cited that demand has been surging in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, which makes solar panels, and has also benefited from applications linked to artificial intelligence.
