Some Charts: A Q2 Review

Let’s take a peek at how Q2 did on some charts.

NASDAQ

The NASDAQ’s +15.6% Q2 performance crushed the other major indices: S&P 500 (+8.47%), DOW (+3.54%), and the Russell (+4.97%).Β

How far away is it from matching its all-time high? Less than 10%.

Carnival Corp

What large-cap stonk was among Q2 2023’s best performers (3rd best)? This guy:

Even though competitor $RCL (+59.2% for Q2)is set to launch the largest cruise ship ever very soon, that wasn’t enough to get close to sinking Carvnival’s Q2 performance.Β

Super Micro Computer Inc.

Coming at the top spot for large caps is $SMCI. Not a huge surprise when you consider the ongoing semi-conductor crisis. πŸ“

While Nvidia may have received a bunch of the news and glory, SMCI’s +133% close for Q2 dwarfed $NVDA‘s +54% gain.Β

But, of course, you’re talking about a $13 billion market cap company vs. a $1 trillion market cap company.Β

Cool fact: both hit all-time highs.Β

ETSY

This stonk definitely needs more sales of Live, Laugh, Love indoor decore.Β

If you want to know which stonks stunk in Q2, $ETSY is one of them (-72.5% from its ATH).

For seemingly no good reason, the stock market experienced its first bout of volatility in several weeks today. The sharp turnaround had some latecomers to the party asking how this could happen to them.
