Trading Competitions: Week 2 Kickoff

Stocktwitsโ€™ first-ever trading competition kicked off last week. In these real money trading competitions, our contestants compete for eternal glory and bragging rights as the best trader on Stocktwits. The first weekly tournament featured some of our longest-tenured community legends going at it head-to-head, and it ended up being a real nail-biter. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

The leaderboard was all in the green to various degrees, helped by a bullish backdrop in the market. For most of the week, CtheLightTrading was in the lead, slowly and steadily making gains with HeyShoe closely behind. ๐Ÿค

However, BearishBulls_ emerged as the leader on Friday and held onto the top spot by a small margin. Those following along saw that his bullish bets in the tech sector helped propel him into the top spot. Congrats to him for winning the first trading competition, and props to everyone else who participated. ๐Ÿ’ช

And if you missed out on the action, you can track or join this week’s competition by clicking here.ย

The second week of competition is off to a hot start, with one trader notching a 180% gain already. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Here’s a look at ChipBrommer’s bearish $SPOT trade that helped secure him a SPOT on top of the leaderboard. A nearly 80% gain on one trade is music to a trader’s ears. ๐ŸŽถ

With that said, it’s still early, and there’s plenty of competition left to go. To follow along or show off your trading skills, click here.ย

We’ll be back Friday with an update on how this week shakes out. ๐Ÿ‘€

Investors Ditch China For Nvidia

While everyone is looking at the S&P 500 closing above 5,000 as this week’s stat of the week, MarketWatch is flagging another wild data point. ๐Ÿšจ

As you can see from the headline snippet above, Nvidia is now worth as much as the entire Chinese stock market. While several stocks already have achieved this feat, they’re bigger conglomerates with many businesses under one roof. But Nvidia is a chip designer and manufacturer with a more straightforward business model, making this that much crazier of an occurrence.ย

The Tale Of Three IPOs

We last talked about the U.S.’s largest initial public offerings (IPOs) a month ago, when their results failed to inspire confidence among investors. However, we wanted to bring them back this week because at least one of them is perking up. ๐Ÿ‘€

The chart below shows Arm Holdings closing at its highest level since coming public, now firmly in positive territory. Klaviyo, which started off hot, is between its highs and lows. But Instacart remains on a downward path, making fresh lows this week before rebounding marginally. ๐Ÿ“Š
