Monopar Therapeutics Inc. ($MNPR)

Shares of Monopar skyrocketed over 350% by mid-day Thursday after the Wilmette, Illinois-based micro-cap biotech announced an agreement with AstraZeneca plc’s ($AZN) Alexion rare disease subsidiary to exclusively in-license the latter’s ALXN-1840.

The drug candidate is a Phase 3 asset and is being investigated for treating Wilson disease, a  rare and progressive genetic condition in which the body’s pathway for removing excess copper is compromised.

The agreement calls upon Monopar paying an upfront cash payment and giving AstraZeneca an equity stake. The smaller biotech is also required to make regulatory and sales milestones-based future payments and royalties on future net sales.

Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. ($NRGV)

Retail sentiment toward Westlake Village, California-based Energy Vault contrasted the stock move on Thursday. The stock was down over 7% by mid-Thursday despite the lack of any major catalyst.

On Monday, Energy Vault, a sustainable, grid-scale energy storage solutions provider, announced an agreement with Australian energy developer Enervest Group for the deployment of a 1,000 MWh battery energy storage in New South Wales, Australia.

The stock jumped 25% over the next two sessions before pulling back.
