The development is seen as a tactical move by China to redirect all regulatory focus on artificial intelligence (AI) chipmaker Nvidia,&nbsp;using the company as a bargaining chip in its trade talks with the U.S. It is also seen as Beijing underscoring its flexibility to the U.S. amid several unresolved issues, especially on the trade front.After President Donald Trump announced his reciprocal tariffs in early April, with China slapped with hefty levies, the two sides have had four rounds of high-level delegation talks. (PLTR) stock rose&nbsp;over 2% in the early premarket session on Thursday, as traders reacted to a report of an expanded partnership with the U.K. defense ministry and the company’s commitment to invest in Europe’s second-largest economy. The news came amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s state visit to the country.&nbsp;A Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-17/palantir-expands-uk-defense-deal-investments-amid-trump-visit">report</a>, citing a person familiar with the matter, said the Alex Karp-led company is close to finalizing a £750 million ($1.02 billion) contract with the U.K. Ministry of Defense, replacing a current £75 million deal that is set to expire.The report also noted&nbsp;that the company has pledged to invest 1.5 billion pounds in the U.K. by 2030 to build on its existing work across health, policing, defense, and other sectors. This would generate about 350 jobs in the domestic economy, with 200 of&nbsp;those at Palantir. At last check, the DXY was up 0.34% at $97.20, which, however, marks a 10.4% drop for the year-to-date (YTD) period.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/UUP">Invesco DB US Dollar Index Bullish Fund (UUP)</a>, an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that tracks the performance of the Deutsche Bank Long US Dollar Index (USDX) Futures Index, has lost 7.5% this year. The Jerome Powell-led Fed cut rates by a quarter-point, aligning the expectations, but the major averages, excluding the Dow Jones Industrial Average, lost ground, potentially in a “sell-the-news” move.As the market looks past the Fed decision, the Nasdaq 100 futures rose over 0.62% as of 11 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The S&amp;P 500 and the Dow futures added 0.43% and 0.29%, respectively, and the Russell 2000 futures climbed 0.54%.The markets closed on a mixed note on Thursday as traders took stock of the Fed decision, the updated forecasts, and the dot plot, along with Powell’s comments at the post-meeting press conference. The strategist views this as boding well for value-oriented sectors and smaller companies as the market broadens.Bolvin Wealth Management Group President Gina Bolvin said the Fed decision wasn’t a pivot, but a measured step.“For investors, this means modest rate relief, not fireworks,” she said, adding that rate-sensitive sectors like housing and consumer discretionary may benefit. “The Fed is walking a fine line, and upcoming inflation and jobs data will determine what comes next,” she added.Crude oil prices retreated late Wednesday, adding to their regular session’s losses, and gold futures also pulled back. (META) shares&nbsp;edged higher after-hours as Mark Zuckerberg’s company unveiled its newest artificial intelligence (AI) glasses at its Meta Connect 2025 conference held late Wednesday.In overnight trading, at the time of writing, Meta’s stock was up 0.24% at $778.15. The company added that it is the first product to integrate microphones, speakers, cameras, and a full-color display, backed by compute and AI, all in a single device that is both stylish and comfortable.It comes with a Meta Neural Band, an EMG wrist band that translates signals created by muscles, including even subtle finger movements, into commands for the glasses. Among the functionalities are Meta AI with visual replies, messaging and video calling, previewing and zooming, pedestrian navigation, and music playback.The price of the device starts at $799, and it will be made available to users on&nbsp;Sept. 30 at limited brick-and-mortar retailers in the U.S., including Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Ray-Ban Stores, followed by select Verizon stores.
