The Stellar network is an open source, distributed, and community owned network used to facilitate cross-asset transfers of value. Stellar aims to help facilitate cross-asset transfer of value at a fraction of a penny while aiming to be an open financial system that gives people of all income levels access to low-cost financial services. Stellar can handle exchanges between fiat-based currencies and between cryptocurrencies. Stellar.org, the organization that supports Stellar, is centralized like XRP and meant to handle cross platform transactions and micro transactions like XRP. However, unlike Ripple, Stellar.org is non-profit and their platform itself is open source and decentralized.   Stellar was founded by Jed McCaleb in 2014. Jed McCaleb is also the founder of Mt. Gox and co-founder of Ripple, launched the network system Stellar with former lawyer Joyce Kim. Stellar is also a payment technology that aims to connect financial institutions and drastically reduce the cost and time required for cross-border transfers. In fact, both payment networks used the same protocol initially.  Distributed Exchange Through the use of its intermediary currency Lumens (XLM), a user can send any currency that they own to anyone else in a different currency.  For instance, if Joe wanted to send USD to Mary using her EUR, an offer is submitted to the distributed exchange selling USD for EUR. This submitted offer forms is known as an order book. The network will use the order book to find the best exchange rate for the transaction in-order to minimize the fee paid by a user.  This multi-currency transaction is possible because of "Anchors". Anchors are trusted entities that hold people’s deposits and can issue credit. In essence, Anchors serves as the bridge between different currencies and the Stellar network.  Lumens (XLM) Lumens are the native asset (digital currency) that exist on the Stellar network that helps to facilitate multi-currency transactions and prevent spams. For multi-currency transactions, XLM is the digital intermediary that allows for such a transaction to occur at a low cost.  In-order to prevent DoS attacks (aka spams) that would inevitably occur on the Stellar network, a small fee of 0.00001 XLM is associated with every transaction that occurs on the network. This fee is small enough so it does not significantly affect the cost of transaction, but large enough so it dissuades bad actors from spamming the network.   Prior to Protocol 12, Stellar had a built-in inflation mechanism conceived to allow account holders to collectively direct inflation-generated lumens toward projects built on Stellar.  As the network evolved and grew, it became increasingly clear that inflation wasn’t working as intended — account holders either didn’t set their inflation destination or joined inflation pools to claim the inflation themselves, and the operational costs associated with inflation payments continued to rise — and so a protocol change to disable inflation was proposed, implemented, voted on by validators, and ultimately adopted as part of a network upgrade. BYD tightened its hold on China’s electric vehicle market in September, outpacing Tesla as local automakers pulled further ahead.The Warren Buffett–backed company sold about 347,000 new energy vehicles during the month, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), keeping its spot at the top of the rankings even with a slight dip from last year’s levels, CnEVPost&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://cnevpost.com/2025/10/15/automakers-share-china-nev-market-sept-2025/">reported</a>.BYD’s sales were down 10.2% from last September but up 12% from August, giving it a 26.7% market share, well ahead of every other automaker in the country.&nbsp;Tesla, meanwhile, ranked fifth with 71,525 vehicles sold, a 0.9% drop from a year earlier but a 25% rebound from July. Its 5.5% share edged higher from August but remained below levels seen last year.Close behind BYD, Geely Auto held on to second place with 150,570 sales in September, a sharp 68% increase from a year earlier. Xiaomi EV stayed in the top 10 after selling 41,948 units, marking its second month on the list.From January to September, BYD’s dominance has been even more pronounced. The company has sold over 2.54 million NEVs so far this year, commanding nearly 29% of the market. BYD Pulls Further Ahead Of Tesla In China’s EV Race In September As Local Rivals Gain Speed

BYD is under pressure to rebuild investor confidence after a $45 billion stock selloff wiped more than 30% off its Hong Kong shares in just four months, the steepest underperformance among peers.&nbsp;Analyst sell ratings are at their highest since 2022, reflecting skepticism over the Chinese EV maker’s strategy of leading the industry in deep discounts during an intensifying price war, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-14/byd-s-45-billion-stock-wipeout-raises-doubts-on-china-outlook">reported</a>.The company’s June-quarter profit plunged 30%, its first drop in over three years, as rivals including Geely and Leapmotor gained traction. Sales there are still expected to strengthen in the fourth quarter as new funds become available for subsidy schemes and seasonal demand typically improves.Worldwide EV sales reached 1.7 million units in August, down from a 21% increase in July. Global EV sales reached 1.7 million units in August, lifted by strong gains in Europe, North America and other regions even as China weakened.

BYD has reportedly cut its 2025 sales target by as much as 16% to 4.6 million vehicles, marking what could be its slowest annual growth in five years and a sign its record-breaking expansion may be ending.&nbsp;China’s largest automaker had told analysts in March it was aiming for 5.5 million sales, but the target has been reduced several times since, with the latest figure shared internally and with select suppliers last month, Reuters&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/chinas-byd-cuts-2025-sales-target-by-16-sources-say-a-sign-its-white-hot-growth-2025-09-04/">reported</a>, citing people familiar with the matter.The goal remains subject to change depending on market conditions. The downgrade comes as BYD faces intensifying competition from rivals such as Geely Auto and Leapmotor,&nbsp;according to the report.BYD last week posted a 30% plunge in quarterly profit, marking its first drop in more than three years. Wall Street is also trimming expectations, with Deutsche Bank forecasting sales of 4.7 million vehicles this year and Morningstar putting the figure at 4.8 million.&nbsp;Analysts at Deutsche Bank and Morningstar now expect BYD to sell 4.7 million and 4.8 million vehicles, respectively, this year. Is BYD's Boom Fading? China's EV Leader Said To Slash 2025 Sales Target By Nearly A Million Units

The company last week reported its first quarterly profit drop in over three years, while rivals like Geely are gaining ground and even raising their own sales targets.

Smart, the joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and China’s Geely, will launch a new two-seat electric vehicle in late 2026 as the successor to its ForTwo city car.The model, called the Smart #2, will be introduced in China, Europe and other overseas markets. It will be a two-door, two-seat vehicle positioned in the A-segment, the company said.The car is being designed by Mercedes-Benz and engineered on a new architecture developed by Smart’s R&amp;D team for ultra-compact models. Production will take place in China.The #2 will join the existing Smart #1, #3 and #5 in the brand’s lineup. Retail sentiment has turned cautious on Xpeng and Xiaomi ahead of their quarterly earnings on Tuesday, despite both carmakers turning in strong July delivery numbers in China’s cutthroat electric vehicle market.Xpeng&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/x-peng-xiaomi-post-strong-july-sales-as-china-ev-price-war-heats-up-li-auto-nio-data-due-next/chr3oz9RdGY">delivered 36,717 vehicles last month</a>, soaring 229% from a year earlier, the ninth consecutive month of deliveries exceeding 30,000, bringing the total to over 800,000.&nbsp;Meanwhile, Xiaomi crossed the 30,000 milestone for the first time last month on the strength of its SU7 sedan, which has been flying off shelves since its launch, as well as the newly launched YU7 crossover, which undercuts Tesla’s Model Y by 10,000 yuan.&nbsp;The SU7 has a starting price of 215,900 yuan, and the two models combined form the cornerstone of Xiaomi’s 2025 sales target of 350,000 vehicles.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment was ‘bearish’ for both Xpeng and Xiaomi, with message volume ‘high’ for Xpeng and ‘normal’ for Xiaomi.Analysts at Koyfin expect Xpeng’s revenue to surge 120% year-on-year to $1.12 billion, while losses are projected to narrow. GAAP EPS is forecast at a loss of $0.15, compared with a $0.18 loss in the same quarter last year.For Xiaomi, revenue is expected to rise 29% to $15.99 billion, with adjusted EBITDA projected to increase 57% to $1.60 billion.
