Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

More than two years after entering the Japanese market, BYD is still struggling to attract buyers. The Chinese EV maker sold just 5,300 vehicles between January 2023 and June 2025, despite opening 45 dealerships, introducing new models, and planning a kei car launch for 2026.The company has turned to discounts of up to 1 million yen ($6,700), effectively cutting prices by as much as 50% when combined with subsidies to boost demand, according to a Bloomberg&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-28/byd-brings-price-war-to-japan-in-bid-to-win-over-customers">report</a>.&nbsp;Its Atto 3 SUV retails for just under 4.2 million yen. However, Bloomberg Intelligence senior auto analyst Tatsuo Yoshida said BYD’s discounting strategy could easily backfire in Japan, where carmakers almost never cut prices. He added that the move could frustrate early adopters who paid more, and may also lower the cars' resale value.According to Yoshida, BYD’s struggle highlights how difficult it is for overseas automakers to win over Japanese drivers, who still prefer hybrids and tend to stick with familiar brands like Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. He pointed out that General Motors quit the Saturn brand after weak sales, while Hyundai is only now trying again after pulling out more than a decade ago.BYD sold 512 vehicles in June, less than half of Nissan’s Sakura, Japan’s top-selling EV, pointing to a level Yoshida said may not even cover operating costs. BYD Tries Deep Discounts To Boost Japan Sales — Analyst Says It’s Hard To Beat Toyota, Nissan, And Honda On Home Turf

​The French government is reportedly reviewing whether Nissan’s European arm paid its suppliers on time and has requested extensive financial and payment records for 2024.The economy ministry’s competition department informed Nissan Automotive Europe of the probe in an Aug. 19 letter, with an inspection&nbsp;scheduled for Oct. 7 at its Montigny-le-Bretonneux headquarters near Paris, Reuters&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/boards-policy-regulation/exclusive-french-authorities-have-requested-nissan-automotive-europe-submit-2024-2025-09-24/">reported</a>, citing letters exchanged between the French government and Nissan.Nissan has not been accused of wrongdoing but was told it could face fines of up to 2 million euros ($2.36 million) if violations are found. Under French law, suppliers must be paid within 60 days. Honda Bets On $18K N-ONE e To Spark Japan’s EV Transition And Race Ahead Of Nissan

The launch comes as Japan’s EV adoption remains sluggish, with kei cars seen as a gateway to wider acceptance. 

Nissan Motor is overhauling its aging lineup and accelerating product launches as it struggles with its worst financial crisis in a quarter century.&nbsp;The Japanese automaker aims to cut development times for new models to 37 months from more than 50, part of efforts to regain competitiveness in the global market, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-10/nissan-ceo-wants-to-launch-new-cars-faster-to-speed-turnaround">reported</a>, citing an interview with CEO Ivan Espinosa at the company’s Yokohama headquarters.Espinosa, who took charge in March, said Nissan is “shortening the development process significantly” to react more quickly to shifting trends. He noted efforts begun 18 months ago are bearing fruit, with lessons drawn from competitive markets like China, where EV makers such as BYD dominate.Nissan has refreshed its Leaf EV and a kei mini-car, with new versions of the Elgrand minivan and Kicks crossover on the way.&nbsp;Once an EV pioneer with the Leaf, the world’s first mass-market electric car, Nissan has since lost ground to Tesla and Chinese rivals. Espinosa said the company is determined to recover lost momentum by quickening its release cycle.In the U.S., the company will launch a redesigned Sentra later this year and a plug-in hybrid Rogue in early 2026. July sales in China rose 22% on demand for the N7 electric sedan, while U.S. sales slipped despite resilient overall demand under Trump’s tariffs.Meanwhile, talks to merge with Honda collapsed, and Nissan’s partnership with key shareholder Renault remains complicated, leaving the company to pursue a turnaround on its own. In May, it announced plans to cut 20,000 jobs and close seven factories worldwide.The carmaker faces 180 billion yen ($1.2 billion) in projected operating losses for April–September and more than 5 billion dollars in debt maturing next year.
